The Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare (MGECW) says violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of children remain the biggest challenges facing Namibia's children.
Learners from various schools in Eenhana, Ohangwena Region, took to the streets on Friday to protest against the rising cases of violence against children.
The march, held under the banner of solidarity and justice, saw young voices demanding urgent action from national and regional authorities.
The Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, Emma Kantema, said her ministry will continue to train Early Childhood Development (ECD) daycarers to raise awareness of violence against children in their classrooms.
A budget of over N$108 million has been allocated towards the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare's Child Care and Social Protection programme to address violence against children.
The ministry received a total budget of N$473 million for the 2025-26 financial year.
