The manager of the ride-hailing company Yango, Alex Mungai, has emphasised that every trip completed on the Yango digital platform records movement using GPS technology, making it possible to verify the movements of both drivers and passengers.

Yango Namibia has increased its fares by 5% to encourage driver compliance with updated regulatory standards. These standards require all e-hailing service providers to obtain public passenger permits by the end of September or risk ceasing operations.

Some taxi drivers held a protest at the Ministry of Works and Transport premises, demanding that e-hailing services like Yango, LEFA, and Indrive, among others, follow the same rules as taxi drivers in the capital.
