Unemployment has forced many residents of Omatako village in the Tsumkwe West Constituency to rely on selling firewood as their primary source of income to support their families.

Omatako is one of the villages in the constituency, pressed by unemployment.

The work is labour-intensive.

Some young people are actively pursuing diverse income initiatives to mitigate the impact of rising cost-of-living hardships.

At the International University of Management (IUM) Nkurenkuru campus, student Ncame Andreas has ventured into horticulture, which helps him earn a living and make ends meet.

The Office of the Governor in the Kunene Region has called on interested youth across the region to apply for a beekeeping training programme aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, income generation, and local economic development.

The Okorukambe Constituency Office in the Omaheke Region has aided residents at Omitara Settlement with material to begin income-generating activities. 

The office also assisted three local schools with modern technology, all to a combined value of N$200,000.
