A new primary school is set to be built at Gobabis to alleviate the overcrowding in existing schools.

Speaking at the site handover to the August 26 company at Gobabis, Omaheke Deputy Education Director Eliakim Kavari said the new school will improve teaching and learning.

The newly constructed block of classrooms and a storeroom at Impalila Combined School are expected to significantly improve learning conditions and ease overcrowding at the school.

The Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, Sanet Steenkamp, says rural-to-urban migration is one of the key contributors to overcrowded schools in urban areas.

Steenkamp remarked on this during her visit to various schools in Swakopmund.
