The Minister of Health and Social Services, Esperance Luvindao, addressed Parliament to motivate a budget of more than N$13 billion for the ministry for the 2026/2027 financial year.
The budget comprises an operational budget of over N$12 billion and a development budget of over N$489 million.
Minister of Health and Social Services (MoHSS), Dr Esperance Luvindao, says that she is aware of the slow service delivery at public hospitals, adding that decongestion strategies are underway.
Namibians could soon see changes in how public healthcare is funded once the Universal Health Coverage Bill is enacted.
The landmark bill, amongst others, seeks to establish a robust legal and institutional framework to ensure that all Namibians access essential health services.
