African Union leaders have demanded prompt action to prevent conflicts from escalating, as insecurity continues to spread across the continent.

African leaders have agreed on measures to strengthen the continent's response to peace and security challenges, with a focus on sustainable financing, early intervention, and rapid response to conflicts.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is in Luanda, Angola, to attend the African Union (AU) Extraordinary Summit on peace and security in Africa. 

African leaders are expected to confront the continent's worsening peace and security challenges at an Extraordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Assembly of Heads of State and Government in Angola on Sunday.
