Opposition MPs continue to boycott National Assembly over alleged insults from ruling party MP

The National Assembly today (Wednesday) failed to carry out its daily business after there was no quorum in the house.

This was largely due to the absence of opposition party MPs, who continued to abscond from the proceedings for the second day in a row.

The recent abrupt walkout and abscondment of opposition party MPs from the National Assembly continue to impact negatively its operations.

The National Assembly could not continue with its session on Thursday, due to a lack of a quorum.

 

Upon entry into the chamber, Deputy Speaker of the House, Loide Kasingo did not take the usual affirmation, but instead inquired about the next move from the Front Desk Officials. 

 

PDM member in the National Assembly Elma Dienda demanded that a roll call be taken to establish whether there is a quorum or not before any action is taken. However, her request was not entertained by the Deputy Speaker.
