The construction of Impalila Island Road is progressing well, despite the challenges of the rain received during January and early this month.

Minister of Works and Transport, John Mutorwa, and Roads Authority CEO, Conrad Lutombi, inspected the roads on Friday.

A media release issued on Sunday by the Namibia Airports Company stated that the event will provide a platform for key aviation industry players and stakeholders to share, tackle, and put into motion ideas on the trajectory that the aviation industry and its related ecosystems over the next few years.

Mutorwa officiated at the official opening of the 2022 Rundu Annual Trade Fair.

SMEs, Mutorwa said, contribute greatly to any town's socio-economic development, hence, the Rundu Expo is a fertile ground for the exchange of ideas.

Mutorwa believes the trade fair is the best platform for local entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services.

The Minister of Works and Transport, John Mutorwa, has reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring a regional road network that supports economic growth.

Mutorwa addressed officials at the inauguration of two key roads at Rundu in the Kavango East Region.

Phase two of the Maria Mwengere Road extends from the University of Namibia campus, over five government installations at Kayengona Village.

Dr Sam Nujoma Drive extends from Maria Mwengere Road through Kehemu Informal Settlement and up to Sauyemwa Informal Settlement.

Rundu Town Council raises N$300 000 for annual trade fair

Rundu Town Council's annual Trade Fair Fundraising Dinner raised more than N $300,000 for the upcoming event.

The trade fair is scheduled to start on the 28th of this month and run until the fifth of November.

This year's trade fair will be sponsored by Recon Africa with N$150 thousand, while FNB Namibia pledged N$50 thousand.

Speaking at the event, the trade fair's patron, John Mutorwa, urged the event organisers to use the money for its intended purpose.

Works Minister satisfied with Charlie Cutline District Road upgrades progress

The Minister of Works and Transport, John Mutorwa is satisfied with the progress made with the upgrades on the Charlie Cutline District Road, located some 70km west of Rundu.

John Mutorwa reiterated that the development of rural roads is a crucial undertaking towards the socio-economic transformation of rural villages.


The construction of the first phase of the road covering a distance of 40km commenced in June this year and is expected to be completed in December.

TransNamib holds workshop on institutional reform

TransNamib held a workshop to discuss institutional reform for the railway sector and the future of the state-owned enterprise.

Last year, TransNamib carried out an institutional reform study to help guide the company on what it needs to do with the railway sector over the next 10 to 15 years.

The study looked at how the company can achieve the goals set under its Transport Infrastructure Improvement Project.
