The mushrooming of unregistered primary schools at Rundu has become worrisome for the Kavango East Directorate of Education, Arts and Culture.

At least three schools with a combined total of more than five-hundred learners are said to be operating illegally and without the approval of the Ministry.

Cases of housebreaking, particularly in schools and churches are on the increase in the Kavango East Region.

Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu revealed this during the display of goods confiscated at Rundu, mainly stationary from schools.

Residents of Kamutjonga Village in the Kavango East have rejected a suggestion by the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism for them to establish a conservancy in their area.

A Deputy Director in the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology says there is no contradiction between the Access to Information and Data Protection Bills. 

The communities of Kavango East and West regions appear to be making inroads in bringing the harvesting of illegal timber under control. 

Chief Forester for Zambezi, Kavango East and West regions, Johannes Niipale attributes the decrease to resolve shown in holding illegal harvesters criminally liable.
