Ambassador of Zimbabwe to Namibia, Melody Chaurura, says Namibia and Zimbabwe's formidable partnership should be used to address regional development.

Chaurura said this during his visit to the Omaheke Region.

Chaurura stressed that it's time the two countries elevated their ties to capacitate communities by exchanging ideas and business opportunities.

Namibia and Zimbabwe sign MoU

Namibia and Zimbabwe signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the areas of agriculture, industrialization, human capital, and local governance at Gobabis.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Permanent Secretary of Provisional Affairs and Devolution of Zimbabwe, Tafadzwa Muguti, emphasised that the agreement also focuses on social development.

Almost four years after releasing an explosive documentary titled 'Anatomy of a Bribe', in which it exposed large-scale looting of Namibia's fishing resources by senior government officials, among others, Al Jazeera's focus has now shifted to Zimbabwe.

The Qatari-owned news channel recently dropped a bombshell with the first episode of the docu-series, entitled 'The Gold Mafia', in which a presidential envoy is implicated in the alleged laundering of millions of US dollars using gold.

Gold Mafia is a four-part series by Al Jazeera's Investigative Unit.

Namibia will continue to advocate for the lifting of sanctions and economic blockade on Venezuela, Cuba and Zimbabwe by the USA.

President Hage Geingob says the affected countries are trying their best to develop and appealed for humanity to prevail.

Dr. Geingob reiterated Namibia's position when he met the visiting Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Relations, Yvan Gil Pinto, and the delegation at State House.

Namibia and Zimbabwe will continue to identify strategic areas of cooperation to strengthen bilateral relations.

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s special envoy delivered a letter in this regard to President Hage Geingob at the family farm, Hadaloha.

Namibia and Zimbabwe have a number of bilateral cooperation agreements and also participate in multilateral platforms.

Air Marshal Elson Moyo says President Mnangagwa’s letter to Dr. Geingob emphasizes just that.

He said areas of strategic cooperation would still be identified for the existing ones.

Namibia invited to partner with Zimbabwe and erect a monument at Museum of African Liberation

Namibia has been invited to partner with Zimbabwe and erect a monument at the complex where the Museum of African Liberation is being constructed in Zimbabwe.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa's special envoy, Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, delivered a letter in this regard to President Hage Geingob at State House.

The Museum of African Liberation, a brainchild of the Zimbabwean government, and a number of other African countries have indicated their willingness to partner on the project already.

Zimbabwe's Mashonaland West Province signs food security MoU with Kavango East

Visiting Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs Minister, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, has called for support to the Uvhungu Vhungu demonstration field to produce the desired results.

Zimbabwe's Mashonaland West Province signed a five-year memorandum of understanding with the Kavango East Region, which seeks to ensure food security for both parties.

Mliswa-Chikoka is leading a delegation from that province to assess the progress of the implementation of the MoU at the participating sites.

Omaheke delegation from Zimbabwe benchmarking visit urged to implement lessons learnt

Farmers and officials from the Omaheke Region who were on a benchmarking visit to Harare, Zimbabwe, have been urged to implement what they learned from their counterparts, particularly in the dairy industry.

The call was made by Governor Pijoo Nganate at the end of the visit.

Nganate says those who accompanied him must implement and share what they have learned with others in their respective constituencies.

The delegation, among others, is hoping to gain some insight into how that country is dealing with unemployment through innovative technologies.

The delegation comprises the regional leadership and the farming community. 

Zimbabwe is one of the countries that has adopted and is innovating new technologies in order to increase productivity and create jobs.
