Family members of the detained fishrot suspects held a silent protest this morning in front of the Windhoek Correctional Facility.
 
The group gathered there, hoping to catch the attention of Namibian Correctional Service (NCS) officials and amplify their request. 

The group of nearly twenty, comprising various family members of the detained fishrot suspects, braved the chilly morning weather on Monday to express their concerns related to the ongoing safety of the suspects.

Fishrot accused's plea postponed

In a firm decision by the High Court, Judge Moses Chinhengo has once again denied requests for postponement in the plea hearing of the individuals accused in the high-profile Fishrot case.

The accused, facing the court in Windhoek, are set to respond to 42 charges of fraud, corruption, and racketeering, marking a significant development in this ongoing legal saga.

Following yesterday's postponement, it was expected that the state would continue where it left off, putting the charges on the accused.

Fishrot Accused Tamson Hatuikulipi's Bail Application Dismissed

Tamson 'Fitty' Hatuikulipi, one of the key figures in the "Fishrot" fishing quotas fraud and corruption case, was denied bail by a High Court Judge.

Acting Judge David Munsu says while the court accepts the new facts brought to court by Hatuikulipi imploring the court to release him, they do not change the grounds on which he had previously been denied bail.

This was the businessman's third attempt to be granted bail.

ACC chief investigator says Tamson Hatuikulipi is being evasive with his side of the story

The Anti-Corruption Commission's Chief Investigator, Andreas Kanyangela, says Fishrot suspect Tamson Hatuikulipi is being evasive with his side of the story on what transpired in the alleged fraud scandal.

Kanyangela leads the probe into the Fishrot scandal, of which Hatuikulipi is among 11 accused, including companies or trusts they own or co-own.

ACC lead investigator objects Tamson Hatuikulipi's bail application

The lead investigator of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Andreas Kanyangela, has again objected to the granting of bail to Tamson Hatuikulipi, one of the accused in the fishrot case.

Kanyangela says Hatuikulipi was key in assisting the Icelandic fishing company, Samherji, to gain access to fishing quotas which were allocated to three right holders.
