Accident in Otjozondjupa Region claims one life

Two accidents were reported in the Otjozondjupa Region on Thursday night and early this morning, resulting in the death of one person. 

Inspector Maureen Mbeha alleged that in the first accident, the driver of a white Corolla, who was travelling from Outjo towards Otjiwarongo, attempted to overtake a stationary truck that was on the road and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

Both drivers and passengers escaped with minor injuries, but the vehicles were extensively damaged.

Foetus found in sewage drain at Osona Village

A four-month-old foetus was found on Thursday morning dumped in a sewage drain at Osona Village outside Okahandja in the Otjozondupa Region.

The Namibian Police Force Unit Commander for Community Affairs in the region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, said on Friday that the foetus was discovered on Thursday at 09h30 by workers dealing with the water recycling and sewage systems of the village.

"The lifeless foetus, weighing 450 grammes, was found wrapped in a plastic bag and dumped in the sewage drain of the Osona Village," Mbeha said.

Farmworker dies in accident on farm in Kalkfeld area

A 34-year-old farmworker died instantly on Sunday after he landed under the wheels of a trailer on Farm Radio in the Kalkfeld area. 

The Namibian Police Force spokesperson in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, told Nampa on Monday that the deceased was identified by relatives as Hinamwene Shonena.

Shonena, who is an Angolan national, was being transported in the trailer attached to a tractor along with nine other farmworkers while on their way to put out a veld fire in the vicinity, said Mbeha.
