Moses ||Garoeb residents ready to vote

Should everything go according to the Electoral Commission of Namibia's plans, residents of the Moses ||Garoeb constituency in Windhoek will have a newly elected regional councillor by this Friday.

The constituency has been without a regional councillor for two months, after the death of Swapo's Aili Venonya, who died in October last year.

The Regional Council Act dictates that the position of a councillor be filled within three months after it becomes vacant.

President Hage Geingob pays tribute to late Aili Venonya

President Hage Geingob has paid tribute to the late Councillor of Moses ||Garoeb Constituency, Aili Venonya, saying the SWAPO Party and Namibia have lost a great leader who served her people diligently.

Venonya died on Sunday, aged 59, following a battle with cancer.

President Geingob, in a statement to express condolences, recalled Venonya's contributions to the hospitality sector and the socio-economic development of the Moses ||Garoeb Constituency.
