President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has reiterated her call for Namibian businesses to negotiate with investors from a position of strength and not simply as beggars.

Namibia has invited investors from Botswana to take up lucrative opportunities in agriculture, renewable energy, mining, and tourism as partners building industries in the country.

Former South African Public Protector Prof Thuli Madonsela has urged employers to work with the government to address South Africa's immigration challenges, warning that violence against undocumented migrants could harm trade, investor confidence and the country's standing in Africa.

Namibia is one of the six SADC countries, which have since developed the National Leather Strategic Work Plans as the region trudges towards implementation of the regional leather framework.  

The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) says expanding market access for Namibian businesses remains a key priority, with the South Africa-Namibia Business Forum having provided a platform for local companies to secure new trade and investment opportunities.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and her South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, have urged the private sector to seize opportunities created through closer regional integration. 

Namibia is turning to China's agricultural expertise to revive local research institutions, strengthen seed production and improve access to the Chinese market.

This follows President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's visit to the Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Sichuan Province, China.

Namibia and South Africa will discuss ways to remove barriers to cross-border trade and improve transport and logistics to support the seamless movement of processed goods.

China has encouraged more competitive Chinese enterprises to invest and operate in Namibia as President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah concludes her state visit and invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to undertake a state visit to Namibia.

Namibia and China have signed several agreements following talks between Presidents Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and Xi Jinping in Beijing.

The agreements cover phytosanitary requirements for the export of fresh Namibian table grapes to China and cooperation in technical and vocational education and training.
