Moussa Faki pays condolences to Geingo family at Casa Rosalia

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, visited Casa Rosalia to offer his condolences to former First Lady Monica Geingos and the children.

During his visit, Mahamat highlighted the significance of Namibia as a product of continental solidarity and organisation, emphasising the unity and strength that bind African nations. 

He shared personal experiences of benefiting from the late Geingob's guidance and brotherly counsel, recounting a meaningful dinner where they discussed the future of Africa for over 30 minutes. 

AU Commission Chairperson urges Africa to curb foreign aid and stimulate peace

The Chairperson of the African Union says Africa must create wealth amongst its people as a tool to curb foreign aid and stimulate peace.

Moussa Faki Mahamat says the need to embrace African ideas on issues facing the continent is also critical to attaining transformation across all spheres of life.

Mahamat also raised concern about the unconstitutional seizure of political power in Africa, saying although success has been achieved in restoring peace across Africa, concerns still exist.

Reversal of democratic processes in some African countries concerns President Geingob

President Hage Geingob is concerned about the reversal of democratic processes in some African countries, more than 50 years after the continent rid itself of colonialism.

President Geingob expressed the sentiments when he hosted the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, at State House.

Dr Geingob lauded the African Union's progress in promoting democracy among member states since its formation.
