The Namibian Police announced today that there are no new developments in the rape and murder case of 5-year-old Ingrid Maasdorp from Okahandja.

Three men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that took place last night at Nau-Aib, Okahandja, while two other suspects remain at large.

The men, aged between 28 and 30, stole 37 packs of Closwa Biltong and N$21,500 in cash.

Namibia, one of the countries in Africa with the most developed road infrastructure, continues to make significant progress in enhancing its road network.

A grassroots group at Okahandja, going by the name Mommies, is calling for urgent intervention from the Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Child Welfare over the increasing number of underprivileged children in the town.

A 45-year-old man was arrested on stock theft charges after he was caught with 14 stolen Bonsmara studs from Farm Omantumba in the Hochfeld area of Okahandja District, Otjozondjupa Region.

The cattle are valued at N$426,000.

Residents of Okahandja's informal settlements spent the night at the Okahandja Municipality, demanding a meeting with Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Erastus Uutoni, and Mayor Beatrice Koutogondo.

Pensioners in Okahandja are finding it hard to cope with their high municipal debts. 

The arrears date back to the time before prepaid electricity and water. Now that RedForce has come into the picture, the elderly say it will be impossible to settle the debts. 

The Otjozondjupa Regional Electoral Officer, Victoria Amutenya, says only 148 out of the 204 trainees will be appointed as registration officials in the Otjozondjupa Region. 

General voter registration is scheduled to start on June 3 and last until August 1.
