Agriculture Ministry to resolve water crisis in north-central regions

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform, Anna Shiweda, stated that the water crisis being experienced in the northern-central regions has been partially resolved.

Shiweda was responding to concerns raised by Rally for Democratic Party (RDP) MP Kennedy Shekupakela regarding the severity of the water situation in the Oshikoto Region.

Government declares a state of drought in Namibia

Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform, Anna Shiweda, said the Namibian government has officially declared a state of drought in Namibia.

She said measures are being put into motion to initiate a comprehensive drought relief programme aimed at assisting the vulnerable and affected communities residing in all 14 regions of the country.

Ethiopian agricultural delegation commends Namibia on high sanitary standards

Ethiopia has commended Namibia for being one of the most experienced African countries in sanitary practices, especially with respect to the requirements of international trade.

This was said by a high-level delegation on agriculture from Ethiopia, who are in Windhoek on a benchmarking visit to Namibia.

Dr Fikru Regassa, Ethiopian State Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, says that his country has invested in multiple infrastructures and made institutional re-arrangements, including restructuring of the sector to enable a wholesome livestock trade.
