Women are critical actors of peace and security - Phororo

The UN Resident Coordinator to Namibia, Hopolang Phororo, states that it is imperative for women to be acknowledged as critical actors in the realisation of international peace and security.

Phororo was speaking at the launch of the Namibia International Women Peace Centre's 2023–2028 Strategic Plan.

The UN Resident Coordinator in Namibia called on women to be active participants and shapers of peace and security policies, not just passive recipients of political decisions.

Namibia is well established as a democracy with strong and credible government institutions and systems that pave the way for socioeconomic development.

UN Resident Coordinator, Sen Pang, remarked this at the Development Partners Forum, held in Windhoek, which focused on energy, food systems, education, and the African Continental Free Trade Area.

The annual Development Partners Forum provides a platform for development partners to explore ways to collaborate with the government on emerging issues and support the implementation of various goals.
