In an effort to equip shop stewards with the necessary skills to protect employees' rights at the workplace, the Namibia Food And Allied Workers Union concluded a two-day training workshop with workers' representatives from the Hardap and ||Kharas regions at Keetmanshoop.

The training was facilitated by the Labour Resource and Research Institute.

The two-day intensive training covered disciplinary hearings, grievance procedures, how to appeal, and understanding conciliation and arbitration processes.

This is one of the recommendations contained in a report on the impact of COVID-19 on workers and trade unions.

Namibia, like most developing countries, was unprepared when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

A report by the Labor Resource and Research Institute (LaRRI) in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) revealed that the virus caused havoc.

Employees fell sick, and many others died.
