Employees of Gendev Fishing Group are calling for changes in the company’s leadership and management, citing concerns over working conditions, salary payments and the continued disruption of operations.

Workers under the Trade Union Congress of Namibia (TUCNA) marked Workers’ Day at Walvis Bay, renewing calls for fair wages and decent working conditions amid technological transitions.

A strike by employees of a local retailer at Rundu and Nkurenkuru continues. 

The employees, represented by the Namibian Food and Allied Workers Union (NAFAWU), are striking in support of a demand for a salary increase and better working conditions.

About 60 Namibian employees at a Chinese-owned company, JTD Mining Group, near Arandis, will no longer share one toilet while on duty.

To get rid of overcrowding, the employer has further decided to build more sleeping rooms for the workers, following the Erongo Governors' intervention in the matter.
