Close to 800 job seekers at Swakopmund flocked to the head office of the Lighthouse Company Group, to hand in their applications and attend an interview for ten casual posts that are on offer.

The job seekers queued as early as 03h00 in the morning, in the hope to be the first in line to secure an interview and hopefully the job.

The vacancies, advertised a week ago on various social media platforms, are for waitresses, cashiers, hosts, runners and cleaners, amongst others.

nbc News spoke to Stellensia Khoases, who secured position number 431 in the queue.
