The Nkurenkuru Town Council is faced with financial constraints that are slowing down the town's development process. 

Jafet Markes Muti shared this during his acceptance address as re-elected mayor of Nkurenkuru Town Council.

Muti stressed that the Nkurenkuru Town Council needs more money to acquire land for the town's development.

The mayor called on all business people who acquired land for business to start with construction.

He says this will not only improve the town's development, but it will also reduce the unemployment rate.

The Chairperson of the Kavango West Regional Council, Joseph Sikongo, calls on the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security to increase the staff numbers at the Nkurenkuru Home Affairs office.

The office is reportedly only operating with two staff members.

The Chairperson of Kavango West Regional Council says the office is supposed to serve all eight constituencies in the region.

Recently, he brought 15 people from Tondoro Constituency to acquire national documents, which was too much for the office to process at that particular time.

The Don Reader Early Childhood Development Centre in Kavango West Region's Nkurenkuru is officially confirmed to meet the ECD standards of the Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare Ministry.

The centre was recently renovated to the tune of N$ 400,000, fully funded by the Namibia Teachers Union.

The Don Reader Ufenkenda ECD Centre was established in 2000 by Don Reader, a retired teacher from Canada, working under the British Colombia Teachers Federation, in collaboration with NANTU.

The Namibia National Teachers Union (NANTU) has inaugurated its regional office, valued at N$6.2 million, at Nkurenkuru in the Kavango West Region.

The office was funded through the N$100 monthly contribution of NANTU members in the region.

The Namibian Police are making significant progress in infrastructural development in all 14 regions.

This was said by the Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security, Dr. Albert Kawana, when he inaugurated the Nkurenkuru Police Station in the country's youngest region, Kavango West.

The station, constructed at a cost of more than N$108 million, consists of a charge office, four holding cells, 42 offices, a doctor's consulting room, cell blocks, four vehicles, fuel tanks, and various other amenities.

Young people who attended the  'Unmatched Youth Conference', which concluded at Nkurenkuru in Kavango West, have expressed their enthusiasm and shared what they have gained from the three-day youth conference.

Fridoline Kauma, the founder of the brand "Kuliguminina Ntudi Kwafu", which has been trending on social media, particularly among the locals, since the start of the conference, said she could not miss the opportunity to attend the event.

The three-day 'Unmatched Youth Conference' concluded today at Nkurenkuru in the Kavango West Region.

99 youth participants from the Kavango West Region's eight constituencies participated in the conference.
 
Themed 'Awaken your unmatched potential', the event started on Monday and ran for a period of three days.

During the closing session, the Deputy Minister of Sport, Youth, and National Service, Emma Kantema-Gaomas, said her Ministry was passionate about youth development and applauded the organisers for creating the platform.

The Minister of Works and Transport, John Mutorwa, says public policy documents are not confidential and should be made available to the public.

Mutorwa was speaking at Nkurenkuru when he handed over the ministry's maintenance functions to the Kavango West Regional Council.

Mutorwa stressed that public policy documents should be shared with the people so that everyone understands the functions of the council.

Residents of the Kavango West Region are now satisfied with NORED's response in addressing the constant power outages in the region.

The town's residents raised concerns about continuous power cuts at a stakeholders' meeting at Nkurenkuru last week.

They said the frequent power outages are affecting their daily activities at businesses, schools and hospitals.

At the previous meeting, the residents called on NamPower to introduce a second supply line to the Kavango West and a dedicated kilovolt line for Nkurenkuru.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services will build new hospitals and upgrade others in the country.

The Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Kalumbi Shangula says, the building and upgrading of some of the hospitals will allow patients to get special treatment in their regions without having to travel long distances. 

The district hospitals will be constructed in Windhoek, Nkurenkuru, Ondangwa and Otjiwarongo and a referral hospital in the Oshana Region is also on the books.
