An aunt of a 14-year-old girl who was killed in a hit-and-run accident at DRC Swakopmund says that the death has shattered her family's hope for a bright future.

The teenager, Theopolina Iyambo, was killed on Sunday morning after an unlicensed driver bumped into her and left her for dead.

Theopolina Iyambo died a few minutes after her aunt sent her to run errands at the DRC informal settlement.

An unlicensed driver employed by a carwash bumped her while she was riding a bicycle, and her body was lying in a pool of blood on the side of the road.

Former Fisheries Minister and Fishrot accused, Bernard Esau, says he is a victim of his co-accused and had nothing to do with their offenses.

Esau is pleading with the court to release him on bail based on new facts.
