Namibia's Ambassador to China says Namibia can learn a lot from China's people-centered approach.
Dr. Elia Kaiyamo attended one of the sessions of the National People's Congress of China.
In an interview with nbc News, Ambassador Kaiyamo says, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which holds its meetings concurrently with the National People's Congress is inclusive of every member of the society including those at the grassroots level.
This guarantees that all people are represented by the highest decision-making body and that no one is excluded.
It is also on these platforms that China announces major policies.
"What Namibia can learn from the Chinese. Congress is the people of China. They're all from all the class forces, the minority, the workers, the politician, and all the forces are represented in the 14th assembly."
China uses the greatest weapon in its quest to alleviate poverty, which is unity among all its people.
"Poverty alleviation in China is remarkable, especially in the village. People are working together, all the political parties, in all the ethnic groups, there's no discrimination. They're working together to make sure that poverty is alleviated in their areas. And the government is giving assistance for them to be lifted out of poverty."
