A multi-million dollar Etunda Farm Clinic located south of Otavi continues to shine.
The clinic, which was built through the Etunda Farm Trust of the Sam Nujoma Foundation was handed over to the Ministry of Health and Social Services in 2017 and serves the farm population as well as anyone finding themselves in the vicinity.
The clinic is located along B1 road.
The Otjozondjupa Health Director, Gerbardo Timotheus, says the clinic is excelling and is one of the most fully stocked clinics in the region.
It offers all health services from maternity, immunization, Anti-Retroviral, and COVID-19 treatments amongst others.
"We have taken note that the truck drivers are also making use of the Etunda Clinic, for the main reason that this clinic is not so much busy at times, so therefore, when they are actually driving or transporting goods between WalvisBay and the rest of Namibia and SADC. During the season of charcoal harvesting or producing, we receive a large number of these farm workers or charcoal producers, who are coming in the vicinity and use the services of Etunda Clinic."
There are two registered and enrolled nurses and cases that require specialists or are complicated are referred to the Otavi health district or Otjiwarongo State Hospital.
" At the moment we have a doctor based at Otavi Health Center, so it depends on the severity of the condition. Above all, it's worth mentioning that Etunda clinic currently is served by ambulance from Otavi Health Center. As you are well aware that we are challenged in terms of the availability of ambulances. The ambulances that we are using at Otavi health center belong to Etunda clinic but knowing that the doctor is based at otavi, we opted to move the ambulance between the two centers."
When visiting the Etunda Clinic, the nbc News team found a new mother Laina Sheehama who had just delivered her baby boy.
Etunda Clinic forms part of the farm school project, whose construction is ongoing.
Once completed, it will be handed over to the Ministry of Education, Art, and Culture.
