Residents of the Kavango West Region are now satisfied with NORED's response in addressing the constant power outages in the region.
The town's residents raised concerns about continuous power cuts at a stakeholders' meeting at Nkurenkuru last week.
They said the frequent power outages are affecting their daily activities at businesses, schools and hospitals.
At the previous meeting, the residents called on NamPower to introduce a second supply line to the Kavango West and a dedicated kilovolt line for Nkurenkuru.
Responding to residents' concerns, NORED's Manager of Technical Services Petnen Frans says the company came up with three strategic plans as a solution to the power outages in the region.
"The first one is a long-term strategic intervention and that was a critical issue of a dedicated line, dedicated station, and is supplying electricity to the regional capital Nkurenkuru."
Frans says the company has also embarked on a study project to provide power to the region from Okongo.
NORED has also mobilized a team to ensure that the power supply to the region is stable, power interruptions are minimized as well as to maintain the street lights.
The residents are now at ease, citing improvement following a meeting with them.
They want the second supply line to the Kavango West, to be done sooner, as a matter of urgency, than being set as a long-term plan.
Currently, the Otjikoto-Masivi line from Tsumeb to Rundu is the only power supply to the two Kavango regions.
Nkurenkuru is supplied from a rural electrification line, unlike all urban centers, which causes frequent power interruptions in the town.
