The Katutura Central Constituency in conjunction with the Khomas Regional Council have donated Wi-Fi service and computers to the Katutura community library through the Minor Capital Project.
The Wi-Fi was installed by Telecom Namibia at the cost of N$250 000.
The Wi-Fi service has been paid for the next thirty consecutive months in advance.
Kaangundue Steve who spoke on the behalf of the directorate of the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, said the interest and understanding of the usage of ICT in libraries and the impact of public access to digital inclusion are vital.
"We have found that the public access facilities in libraries are frequently used by more disadvantaged or vulnerable people, such as unemployed low-income or elderly people".
Kaangundue said ICT is more than a basic need in this day and age.
The Councilor for Katutura Central Constituency, Rodman Katjaimo handed over the donations.
Katjaimo further stated that the donation will be utilized by anyone within the constituency.
Katjaimo said this financial year's budget will be used to assist SMEs in need of financial assistance.
