WorldSkills Namibia will complete its countrywide selection this weekend.
The skills competition focuses on 14 technical and vocational skill sets and those who emerge as winners will take part in the national skills competition in September this year.
The Namibia Training Authority (NTA), through World Skills Namibia, remains committed to creating awareness and promoting the development of technical and vocational skills in the country, particularly among the youth.
Last year, the country hosted a successful skills competition for the African continent.
Namibia emerged as the overall winner.
The selection competition for this weekend will focus on 14 skill areas, including automobile technology, bricklaying, electronic installations, fashion technology, hairdressing, web technology, and restaurant services.
Youth under the age of 21 will compete and showcase their talents and skills in these areas.
Other areas of competition are welding, wall and floor tiling, mechatronics, joinery, refrigeration, and air conditioning.
The competition is open to skilled youth from all education and training institutions, industries, and private individuals.
The third National Skills Competition will take place at the Ongwediva Trade Fair from April 25 to 30.
Winners will represent Namibia at the global skills competition taking place in France in September next year.
