African leaders are expected to confront the continent's worsening peace and security challenges at an Extraordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Assembly of Heads of State and Government in Angola on Sunday.

The Presidency confirmed that President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will participate in the session, which will focus on strengthening coordination and advancing African-led solutions to conflicts.

The meeting comes as Sudan, the Sahel region, the Democratic Republic of Congo and other parts of Africa continue to grapple with conflict and instability.

Held under the theme "Strengthening of Mechanisms for Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa", the session will focus on strengthening mechanisms to prevent and resolve conflicts across the continent.

The Presidency says Namibia will reaffirm its principled commitment to the peaceful resolution of conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy, in line with international law.
