The Namibian government remains committed to improving the lives of people with disabilities.

Hardap Governor Salomon April said this while donating food parcels to people with disabilities at Aranos, courtesy of Rani Trading Group.

The Office of the Hardap Governor also spoiled people with disabilities with a warm meal after the handing-over ceremony.

The event also saw the handover of traditional attire and shoes to the Salomon Boois Primary School cultural group.

"You are so special to us as the government because we know you are our direct first responsibility to make you feel not different but part of everybody," April said.

Governor April said the government is doing its utmost to improve the quality of life for all Namibians.

"All eyes are waiting on the government to open up its resources for it to serve its people in the country, to improve their wellbeing and their lives. But to do it for a population close to 3 million with only government resources is not realistic. It will take time, and meanwhile, because we are hungry every day and suffer daily, we get impatient and say the government has forgotten us. Isn't that true? But it is not that the government doesn't care for you; the economic headwinds it faces don't allow it."
