Chaos and confusion continue to persist due to the absence of traffic lights at the Havana four-way intersection on Peter Eneas Nanyemba, formerly Monte Christo Road.
The continuous roadwork in Havana makes the situation at the 4-way crossroads even more challenging for simple access.
The road is visibly covered with sand, causing motorists to struggle to give each other the right of way.
It has been two years since the City of Windhoek announced its intention to install traffic lights on the Havana 4-way Road, among others.
However, six months into 2023, there are still no signs of traffic lights at the intersection.
In 2021, the City of Windhoek stated that the council had secured funds for installing traffic lights at various locations in the capital.
Approached for comment, the City of Windhoek's spokesperson, Lydia Amutenya, explained that the Havana 4-way Road, along with the Peter Eneas Nanyemba Road, is currently undergoing expansion as part of the construction project by the Octagon Construction Company, which is responsible for the Ongos Valley construction.
Due to these ongoing construction activities, Amutenya says it is not possible to install traffic lights at this time.
