President Hage Geingob has expressed his gratitude to Namibians for wishing him a speedy recovery.
He also took the opportunity to advise young people to take their health seriously.
Dr. Geingob recently underwent a minor aortic stenosis operation in Cape Town, South Africa.
"Let me first take this opportunity to thank all party members who went out to welcome me when I came back from my hospital treatment. For the first time, some of us were hospitalised, and thank God I made it, so I would like to thank all of you. I would like to thank the Deputy Secretary General and the Vice President; that's touchy. Also, some leaders from opposition parties sent me messages, and I thanked them. So it was serious enough; I was never hospitalised, but it was terrible. That is all I can say, but thank God I am up now. They discovered this thing early, and therefore I would like to advise all young people to always go to the doctor. Early detection is very important so that a serious matter becomes less serious. Had I had other problems, it could have been difficult."
