The Ministry of Health and Social Services hopes to start the construction of the |Khomas District Hospital as soon as possible.
A consultant is presently appointed to do a feasibility study.
Currently, the |Khomas District is served by ten clinics, two health centres, and one hospital, namely Katutura Intermediate, while the Central Hospital is used as a national referral hospital.
The region has no district hospital, and in the absence of that, the Katutura Hospital serves both functions.
This has resulted in congestion as the population, disease burden, and profile have all increased.
The district hospital will have a capacity of 250 beds.
It will be located in the Havana Area, on the western side of the city.
