The Inspector General of the Namibian Police, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, has appointed Commissioner Willem Steenkamp as the new Regional Commander for the |Khomas Region.
Commissioner Willem Steenkamp's appointment is effective as of the 1st of this month.
He takes over from Commissioner David Indongo, who has been appointed as the new Head of the Special Field Forces Directorate.
His appointment is also effective as of July 1 of this year.
Lieutenant General Shikongo also made some other key transfers.
Commissioner Andreas Haingura, who headed NamPol in Omaheke, is now transferred in the same capacity to the Kavango East Region.
Omaheke Region will now be under the helm of Commissioner Heinrich Tjiveze, who previously headed the Otjozondjupa Region.
Kavango East's Commissioner Johanna Ngondo now holds the Police baton at Otjozondjupa.
Lieutenant General Shikongo also announced the following promotions:
Deputy Commissioner Johanna Situde's rank has been upped to that of a Commissioner, and she now heads the Gender and Welfare Directorate.
Chief Inspector Cathrine Walaula's new rank has been promoted to Deputy Commissioner and Head of the GBV Protection Division.
Chief Inspector Eimo Popyeinawa is promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner and appointed as Head of the High Profile Investigations Division, while Chief Inspector Christiana Iita is promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner and Head of the Former Heads of States Division.
Inspector Doreen Limota was promoted to the rank of Chief Inspector and now heads the Traffic Law Enforcement Sub-Division in the Zambezi Region, while Inspector Faustina Salom gets promoted to Chief Inspector and Heads the Traffic Law Enforcement Sub-Division in Ohangwena.
Inspector Martin !Aochamub has been promoted to the rank of Chief Inspector and appointed as Head of the Traffic Law Enforcement Sub-Division in the Erongo Region.
Another promotion made was that of Inspector Helena Iipinge to Chief Inspector and her appointment as Head of the Administration and Logistics Sub-Division, of VIP Protection Directorate.
The appointments are effective on July 1 and August 1, respectively.
