The Chairperson of the Omaheke Regional Council, Ignatius Kariseb, has called on the residents, particularly farmers, to desist from evicting employees because of disagreements.

Kariseb said this when he visited the family of Joseph Jacobs, who has been offloaded along the corridors of the Kalahari Constituency, allegedly by the employer at Farm Somekoms.

Kariseb, who is also the councillor of the Kalahari Constituency, called on the farmers to desist from evicting employees over an argument.

He added that events of such nature also affect the livelihoods and well-being of the affected, especially during harsh weather conditions.

"The situation that we just came across together with you is obviously uncalled for as a leader, it's really not good for a family to be in the corridor, and the most painful thing in this specific case is that this family has been living at this specific place for almost more than four years, but for simple reasons of not properly understanding each other, they decide to dump them in the corridors. That's why I'm saying it's uncalled for.

He said the region's leadership is seeking an audience with the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform to iron out some of these matters.

A pensioner named Josef Jacobs says it is not safe to camp along the road as this poses danger to his family and their belongings.

"What I will request from my leaders is to help me find a place to settle elsewhere, as I'll be very grateful if I'm assisted in this regard. Thank you so much."

Kariseb assured the family that his office is handling the issue as a matter of urgency.
