The Kunene Education Directorate has awarded teachers, learners, and schools in the region for their outstanding performance last year.

The Education Director, Angeline Jantze, commended the award recipients for their hard work.

The annual ceremony acknowledged the achievements of the national examinations for both the Senior Secondary Certificate and the Advance Subsidiary.

Speaking at the occasion at Opuwo, Kunene Education Director Angeline Jantze commended teachers for embracing technology to aid their work.

"Recent times have presented unprecedented obstacles, but you, our teachers, have been unwavering pillars of support for your students. You embraced technology to continue the learning journey, demonstrated resilience, and set an example of determination that inspires us all."

Dr. Roswitha Mahalie, the Head of the Department of Preventative Health Science at Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), encouraged teachers to keep learning and developing themselves but mostly work as a team.

"Make sure that you learn and acquire other skills because English is being spoken, isn't it?" Any language can be spoken if you want to acquire specific skills. So many times we are intimidated; I can't express myself in this language; obviously, as a teacher, we expect better from you."

Annelise Januarie from Outjo Secondary School was awarded best overall learner at the senior secondary level, a recognition that came with sleepless nights.

"My word of encouragement for all the other students who are studying is to have a vision for yourself. Don't compromise what you want to do and try to fit in with the rest. Have a vision for yourself and let that be your fire to continuously persevere in life and take on any struggle with a smile."

Leticia Kakaria from Outjo Secondary School was awarded the overall best-performing teacher.
