Namibia has condemned the coup that toppled the Niger Government and the subsequent detention of President Mohamed Bazoum yesterday.
In a statement, the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation said Namibia remains resolute in its stance on zero tolerance for acceding to power through unconstitutional means.
It calls for the reinstatement of President Bazoum and all other political detainees, the restoration of constitutional order, and the return of the government to civilian rule in that country.
The statement further calls on the international community to extend support to Niger's people to find a democratic solution to the current situation.
