Vice President Nangolo Mbumba has described the relationship between Namibia and Russia as excellent.
During the Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg, Mbumba was interviewed on the Russian state news channel RT, where he said that Namibia will never turn its back on Russia, as Moscow was the only one who stood beside the country in its darkest times.
Mbumba says that Russia played a pivotal role in Namibia's independence, dedicating itself to protecting the Namibians and affording training in various areas.
He says that the two countries will continue to strengthen their ties in politics, cybersecurity, and agriculture.
"We have to deal with the training of our people in digitalization and cyber security to make sure that we are safe; that is the field in which we are moving. Equally, we want equipment to develop agriculture in tractors and machinery."
Mbumba described the 2nd Russia-Africa summit as a wonderful occasion that brings leaders together to have a dialogue in a conducive environment.
