The eagerly anticipated rugby clash between the Welwitschias and the South African side, Blue Bulls, will now take place at a different venue than originally planned. Instead of being held at the renowned Dr. Hage Geingob Stadium, a new location has been designated.
Dr. Hage Geingob Stadium holds significant prominence as the traditional home of rugby in Namibia, hosting numerous premier league matches and national team games throughout the year.
Initially scheduled to be played at Dr. Hage Geingob Stadium over the weekend, this thrilling encounter had to undergo a change of venue due to an official press release issued by the Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service yesterday. The relocation was necessitated by preparations for Heroes Day commemoration taking place at Independence Stadium - which happens to be situated near Dr. Hage Geingob Stadium.
In addition to logistical considerations related to security protocols that need to be observed on that particular day, it became unfeasible to host the game at its original rugby stadium location.
Namibia Rugby Union President Petrie Theron confirmed this alteration but reassured sports enthusiasts that despite this adjustment, the match between these two formidable teams will indeed take place; however, it will now unfold at Windhoek High School.
To ensure widespread access for fans across Namibia and beyond, Saturday's live broadcast of this exhilarating contest is scheduled for 16:00 on nbc1 television channel.
