Any investor who would help the government alleviate unemployment among the youth and create industries in Namibia is welcome.

This was the central emphasis during a courtesy meeting between President Hage Geingob and Clemens Tönnies, a German businessman, and a delegation at State House.

The German-based Tönnies Holding company operates in the food industry around the world with eight divisions: pork and beef meat, sausages, ingredients, logistics, and others.

It is proposing to set up facilities in Namibia, and this move could see the company sourcing Namibian beef for export purposes.

Once realised, the Tönnies Holding company says it would also transfer technological know-how locally.

The Namibian government, through its respective ministries and agencies, had already identified some facilities, which the Trade Ministry says are ideal for investments.

President Geingob, however, emphasised the need for job creation, especially for the youth.
