Young people from Tsumkwe, in the Otjozondjupa Region, are steadfast in their quest to be included in mass employment by the government and its agencies. They vow to boycott and disrupt the upcoming Population and Housing Census process. On Tuesday, the youth took to the streets to vent their frustrations over the matter.
The Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) is among those pointed out as culprits when what was said to be a fake list of potential enumerator candidates ended up being genuine as all names that appeared on it are on the official list. The list was released on Tuesday evening, and the local young people vowed to protest at the training site where the selection of enumerators will take place.
Contacted for comment on the latest development Tsumkwe Constituency Councillor Johannes Hausiku expressed his displeasure over the alleged exclusion of the San community.
Hausiku further questioned the NSA's selection criteria and stressed that if verified and those youth selected are not from Tsumkwe, then they will have to be replaced.
nbc News probed the NSA for a response, and the agency has not provided answers to questions filed until the time of broadcast.
