The Road Fund Administration (RFA), the Roads Authority (RA), and the Otjiwarongo Municipality have signed an agreement to improve road infrastructure within the town. This initiative aims to enhance comfort for residents and attract investment.
The Chief Executive Officer of the RFA, Ali Ipinge, says the fund has already started with the selection of local authorities countrywide to enhance the road network.
"To support the maintenance and rehabilitation of the Fida roads and also the roads connecting the urban roads within Otjiwarongo town to the national road network. The impact of this is to see that over time the roads within the municipal area of Otjiwarongo are maintained to the right standard to support the residents of the town and also those that pass through the town only Otjiwarongo."
Otjiwarongo Mayor Gottlieb Shivute highlighted the significant contribution of well-maintained roads to domestic economic development.
He stated that the municipality is fully committed to delivering projects that meet the residents' needs.
"This collaborative effort underscores our shared commitment to improving our community road infrastructure while ensuring transparency and accountability in the utilisation of public funds."
The Memorandum of Understanding will be in effect for a period of three years.
