The Namibia Annual Sport Awards took place on Saturday night, with Veja Hinda, Vera Loser and Ananias Shikongo among the big winners of the night.

The event, which was held in the Erongo region at the MTC Dome saw athetes, sport experts and coaches recognised for their hard work and perseverance.

The annual prestigious ceremony aims to celebrate and honor diverse achievements in the field of sports.

The awards thus cover a wide range of categories, totaling twenty.

Veja Hinda walked away with NSC NASA Sportsman of the Year for his outstanding performance in mixed martial arts.

Meanwhile, Vera Looser was the ultimate winner in the NSC NASA Sportswoman of the year category. 

Lahja Ishitile was awarded the Nampower NASA Sportswoman of the Year with a disability.

The Nampower NASA sportsman of the year with a disability award was won by Ananias Shikongo, after competing for the title alongside Rodney Snewe and Johannes Nambala.

The community voted for Fillemon Ngutenanye as the NWR NASA People's Choice Award winner.

Magret Mengo  was recognized for her dedication towards the growth of sport in the community and was awarded Chairperson's accolade.

The event is held annually and next year's location is yet to be determined.
