Voices around the world are amplifying the call to stand in solidarity with Palestine and stop the violence in which thousands have been killed.
A petition read by the Swapo Party's Secretary for External Relations, Dr. Peya Mushelenga, to the United Nations calls upon the international body on peace and security to intensify its voice and act decisively to apply pressure on Israel to stop the killings of the people of Palestine.
Brutal, horrendous, and inhumane murders have become a daily reality for Palestinians for the past few weeks as women, children, and innocent civilians die from the indiscriminate bombings by Israeli Defence Forces.
As the world unites in the call to stop the senseless killings, Namibians, during a march led by the Swapo Party in solidarity with the people of Palestine, have called upon the United Nations (UN) to ensure that Israel is compelled to desist from unbecoming behaviours as per the international body's moral obligations.
The marchers handed over a petition to the UN.
"Intensify its voice and act decisively to exert pressure on Israel to stop the killings of the people of Palestine forthwith. Demand that Israel immediately comply with all relevant UN General Assembly and Security Council resolutions, including Advisory Opinions by the International Court of Justice, on the Question of Palestine, within one week. Call on and ensure that all membe states act with common purpose towards ensuring an immediate solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, once and for all. Ensure that perpetrators of war crimes in Gaza are brought before justice", said Dr. Peya Mushelenga.
The Palestinian community in Namibia, too, joined in on the march, as thousands of Palestinian lives are being claimed in the conflict, mostly women and children.
The UN's national information officer, Anthea Basson, received the petition on behalf of the UN Resident Coordinator to Namibia, Hopolang Phororo.
She assured that Phororo would receive the petition and channel it to the UN Secretary General's office.
