Swapo Party encouraged to elect competent leaders


The Swapo Party's Secretary for Legal Affairs, Pohamba Shifeta, has encouraged members to elect capable and competent candidates who can deliver on promises made.

Shifeta said putting incompetent candidates into positions of authority creates challenges and mistrust between the party and the community.

Shifeta, who was speaking at a mini-rally at Malengalenga in the Zambezi Region, reminded the attendees of the government's achievements over the past 34 years.

Low voter registration turnout a concern


The low number of eligible voters registering to vote in the November elections continues to be a cause for concern.

President Nangolo Mbumba says if nothing is done over the next few weeks, the country will not have a full picture of the number of voters and risk being accused of irregularities in the election. 

Dr. Mbumba, Deputy Prime Minister John Mutorwa, and the Secretary-General of the Swapo Party met with the management and commissioners of the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN).

Swapo Party members in Sibbinda District urged to unite


The Swapo Party's Chairperson of Leaders Assigned to the Zambezi Region, Erastus Uutoni, addressed party members and supporters at Bitto in the Sibbinda District. 

He reminded them that the liberation struggle was won because of unity of purpose, and the enemy was defeated.

Uutoni stated that, as the people had united for the common purpose of liberating the country, it was now time to stand together and work hard to build on the gains achieved since then through the Swapo Party-led government.

The Swapo Party launched its key election campaign tools in Windhoek on Monday.

The election campaign tools are the party website, party profile, presidential candidate profile, Namibia Today newspaper, and Swapo Party election broadcast tools.

Each campaign tool highlights the party's history, prominence, governance, and why the Swapo Party is a good fit for winning the upcoming elections.

They also remind the people of the mistake they made in the last elections.

Swapo Party Politburo member Verna Sinimbo has urged eligible voters to register for the upcoming national and presidential elections. 

She made the call while addressing Swapo party members at Rosh Pinah in the ||Kharas Region. 

Sinimbo stressed the need for the party's supporters to unite in support of the party's presidential candidate, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, and the party's noble objectives. 

She described Nandi-Ndaitwah as a knowledgeable, tested, and trusted cadre of the party.

The PDM President, McHenry Venaani, made these remarks at the official opening of the Central Committee meeting at Opuwo, Kunene Region.

Founding President turns 95


The Swapo Party joined the rest of the country in wishing Founding President Sam Nujoma a happy 95th birthday.

In a media statement, the party says the life of the Founding President continues to inspire all to work for a better Namibia, freed from the shackles of poverty, hunger, and oppression of any form in human society.

Swapo Party pioneers urged to sensitise voters


The Swapo Party Regional Coordinator for the ||Kharas Region has urged the party's pioneers to sensitise eligible voters to go and register for the November general elections. 

Mathew Mumbala made the call at the Pioneers Movement regional elective conference at Keetmanshoop. 

The Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) is mandated by the party's constitution to be custodians of the Pioneers Movement and thus must ensure its structures are active. 

Otjozondjupa Regional Swapo leadership unhappy with Red Force deal


Swapo Party's Otjozondjupa Regional Leadership urged the Grootfontein Municipality to immediately stop the execution of the contract with Red Force Debt Management.

The party's regional coordinator, Imms Namaseb, says the party will also address their councillors from the Grootfontein Municipality for non-compliance. 

Swapo commemorates 64 years


The Swapo Party on Friday marked 64 years of existence since its foundation on April 19, 1960, with its eyes trained on the upcoming national elections.

In a message to party members, Swapo Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah called for unity as the party prepares for the upcoming elections.
