President Hage Geingob has underscored his commitment to nation-building and the principle of unity in diversity, albeit difficult at times.
Dr. Geingob shared these during a courtesy visit by the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Molly Phee, at State House.
In his firm belief in the Namibian House mantra, President Geingob likens the different tribes and ethnic groups to bricks used to construct the said house.
Through this, the President envisions a country where all Namibians, regardless of tribal or ethnic background, are equal and uphold national identity above that of a tribe or race.
Dr. Geingob's weekend programme included attendance at the maiden San Cultural Festival and at the annual Damara Cultural Festival as a guest of honour.
The visiting American diplomat commended President Geingob's approach to inclusion.
One of the central tenets of a democracy is the quality of life of people in any given society, Phee says, including Namibia's.
The US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs emphasised that the Biden administration is deliberate in learning from countries like Namibia that continue to uphold democratic principles.
