In the highly anticipated 9th edition of the Dr. Hage Geingob Cup, African Stars will go head-to-head against the exciting newcomers, Eeshoke Chula Chula, on November 18th at the Windhoek Independence Stadium.

Eeshoke Chula Chula, hailing from the Ohangwena Region and recently promoted to the Debmarine Premiership, has quickly captured the attention of football fans across the nation.

Their entry into the top-flight league has been marked by exhilarating performances and a growing reputation for bringing excitement to the beautiful game.

African Stars, as the reigning champions of the 2022/23 league, have automatically secured their spot in the Dr. Hage Geingob Cup.

This clash promises to be a spectacle that will bring the city of Windhoek to a standstill.

The selection process for the participating teams was determined through a voting competition. Fifteen teams from the current Debmarine Premiership participated, resulting in a staggering 24,743 votes being cast.

Eeshoke Chula Chula emerged as the top choice, receiving an impressive 11,217 votes, securing their place in the cup.

Following closely behind in second place was the coastal giant, Blue Waters, with a total of 9,658 votes. Khomas Nampol received 1,740 votes, Julinho Sporting received 435 votes, and Tigers received 354 votes, rounding out the top five positions.

Meanwhile, Young Brazilians found themselves with the fewest votes, receiving only 17.

Amos Shiyuka, speaking at the media briefing, confirmed the winner and extended a warm invitation to football fans to come and support both teams.

Shiyuka also expressed his joy at the return of football after a three-year absence, during which the community focused on other worthy causes.

Considering the previous encounter between African Stars and Eeshoke Chula Chula, which saw the Dr. Hage Geingob Rugby Stadium filled to capacity, the sponsors have taken note of the situation and are diligently working to ensure better crowd control for the upcoming match.

John Sikerete, the coach of Eeshoke Chula Chula, expressed his team's excitement at being part of the prestigious Dr. Hage Geingob Cup in their very first season in the top-flight league.

This opportunity to compete against African Stars will undoubtedly serve as a valuable experience for the rising football powerhouse.

In addition to the main event, the cup will also feature matches between MTC Hopsol Academy players and the winners of the women's Super League, Ongos Women's Football Team, taking on Girls and Goal.

Furthermore, football enthusiasts can look forward to witnessing legendary players from Namibia and South Africa in an exciting curtain-raiser match.

MTC, as the title sponsor, along with Namibia Breweries Limited and Bank Windhoek as co-sponsors, were also present at the event.
