The Police Inspector General, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, has appealed to the community of Berseba Village in the ||Kharas Region to join hands with the police in fighting crime. 

Speaking at the Berseba Boer Goat Expo, NamPol's top cop revealed that crime has shown a steady increase in the village over the years. 

In 2020, a total of 42 crimes were recorded in the village, while forty-five crimes have already been reported since the start of 2023.

The most common crimes committed are rape, murder, gender-based violence, serious assault, housebreaking, dealing in drugs, and theft."

"Feel free to report any suspicious activities to the police. Moreover, I would like to reinterpret the importance of community policing, which strengthens the efficiency of our law enforcement efforts, builds trust, and creates progressive relationships between the police and the community.''

Lieutenant General Shikongo says plans to set up a police station at Berseba Village are still being considered. 

''Very soon, as I said, more good things are coming. We are considering, depending on the situation, having a police station in Berseba in the future. ''

NamPol's head also urged road users to be vigilant and to adhere to the traffic regulations and rules during the upcoming festive season. 

''Namibian Police Force has already put mechanisms in place aimed at mitigating road crashes, injuries, and fatalities on our national roads for the upcoming 2023–2024 festive season. ''
