The newly appointed Ohangwena Regional Governor, Sebastian Ndeitunga, says he will adapt to the new political environment in this phase of his career and be a servant of the people.
Ndeitunga remarked this morning at Eenhana as he officially took office and met the regional leadership in his new role.
Officially taking over from his predecessor, Ndeitunga was quick to point out that he does not come with ready-made solutions for the challenges faced by the region and that he will rely on the exceptional teamwork of his councillors and the region's senior officials as the head of the region.
"You may think I brought a magic solution to those challenges; problems will only be solved by a unified, coordinated, disciplined team. A team that understands the basic interests of the people of this region. I came to join a team that does not have infighting. I want a team that cooperates and coordinates. I know there are people who have PHDs in fighting; if I were the head, I could withdraw those degrees, either we unite and become victorious, or we continue fighting among ourselves and fall like fools."
Ndeitunga added that teamwork promoting the interests of the people without looking at their tribes and regionalism is key to attaining positive results, which will bring development closer to the people.
Former Governor Walde Ndevashiya, who was relieved of his duties last week, congratulated his successor and wished him the best of luck as he took on his new role.
"We wish you all the best, and if you need my advice or anything from me, I will be available for us to interact and assist where I can."
The Ohangwena Region is the second most populated region, with over 250,000 inhabitants.
