Civil servants have been encouraged to embrace technology and leverage the newly launched "Being a Public Servant in Namibia" Digital Pocket Guide 2.0 to improve service delivery.

Embracing digital technology has been identified as a key tool for improving effective service delivery and social justice.

The digital version of the Pocket Guide will see the strengthening of institutions, governance, and capacity as civil servants will be better positioned to navigate the complexities of their roles to meet the needs of Namibia's public service.

Civil servants will also be better informed through the convenient oral tool as well as access information more quickly while improving administration.

Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila highlighted the importance of mainstreaming technology in developmental strategies for achieving set goals and transforming the public service sector and social justice.

"At your fingertips and by opening the e-Pocket Guide, it enables you to navigate through the key Public Service HR Policies. There you can view the structure and composition of the government, the conditions of services, including the benefits that are at your disposal, and many more. Through the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Chatbot or Pocketbot, you can chat, type comments, ask any question you may have, and receive an answer instantly. That is what makes the digitalization of the pocket guide so unique."

The digital transformation is ideal for environmental sustainability, reducing the carbon footprint.

UNDP's Assistant Administrator and Regional Director for Africa, Ahunna Eziakonwa, highlighted that the initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on critical areas such as gender equality, poverty reduction, and environmental sustainability.
